Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what data GermanShorts does — and does not — collect. We have written it to reflect exactly what the project actually does today, not a generic template. Where something is not yet finalized, it is marked clearly as a TODO below instead of being assumed.
1. This website does not collect personal data
The pages on this website (germanshorts, including this page) are static — there is no login system, no account registration, no forms, no comment system, and no cookies set by this website itself. We do not run any analytics or tracking script on this website.
2. Hosting-level technical logs
Like virtually any website, the hosting provider that serves these pages may automatically record standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and access times) as part of normal web server operation, for security and reliability purposes. GermanShorts does not itself request, access, or analyze this data beyond what the hosting provider makes available for those purposes. TODO — name the specific hosting provider here once chosen, and link to its own privacy policy.
3. Content distribution platforms (e.g. YouTube)
GermanShorts videos are published on third-party platforms such as YouTube. When you watch, like, comment on, or subscribe to GermanShorts content on those platforms, your interaction is governed entirely by that platform's own privacy policy (for example, Google's Privacy Policy for YouTube) — not by GermanShorts. GermanShorts, as the channel owner, may see aggregate, anonymized viewership statistics made available by the platform itself (such as view counts), the same way any content creator on that platform would. GermanShorts does not separately collect, store, or process viewers' personal data outside of what the platform provides.
TODO — if/when additional platforms (such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or X) are connected for publishing, list each one here by name once it is actually live, together with a link to that platform's own privacy policy.
4. How content is produced
GermanShorts videos are generated from a small, curated bank of German vocabulary, translations, images, and licensed background music, using an internal, self-hosted production pipeline. This production process does not use viewer data, personal information, or any third-party personal datasets — it works entirely from content the project itself curates and licenses.
5. Contact and inquiries
If you contact GermanShorts directly (for example, by email), we will only use the information you send us to respond to your inquiry. We do not add contacts to a mailing list or share your message with third parties, unless required by law. Contact address: TODO — add a public contact email.
6. Children's privacy
GermanShorts does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children, because this website and the underlying production process do not collect personal data from visitors or viewers in the first place, as described above.
7. Changes to this Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the project evolves — for example, when a new distribution platform is connected, or when hosting details are finalized. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
